Guest Lecture by Ms Krushnaa Patil – Youngest Indian Woman Mountaineer

“Every mountain top is within reach if you just keep climbing.” Rightly quoted by Barry Finlay and to prove this quote true we were privileged to have Ms. Krushnaa Patil as a guest to share her thrilling experience with our senior students of MYP 4, 5, and DP 1 and 2. In alignment with the value of the month ‘Perseverance and Determination,’ it was an honour to have such an eminent personality Ms. Krushnaa among us who was felicitated and welcomed by MYP Coordinator Mr. Mandar Gurjar and DP Coordinator, Mr. Aprit Sharma.
Ms. Krushnaa Patil is an Indian Mountaineer, who at the age of 19, became the youngest Indian woman to successfully ascend Mount Everest, the earth’s highest mountain.
She shared her amazing journey and how from a very young age she was fond of trekking and made it a point to visit all the small and big forts in and all-around Maharashtra.
Ms Patil mentioned how for her family; vacations were always in the Himalayas. She shared how with perseverance, determination, and the zeal to do something different she decided to train herself and got herself enrolled in the Nehru Institute Of Mountaineering (NIM) at Uttarkhand for a Basic Mountaineering Course in 2007 followed by an Advance Mountaineering Course in 2008.
Soon after, she got the chance to be a part of the pre-Everest expedition, and at 18, became the youngest person to scale Mount Satopanth in Garhwal Himalayas, Uttarakhand. Everest followed in May 2009, when she became the second youngest Indian to summit the peak.
It was an interactive and informative session as she asked the students a number of questions and also responded to all their queries.
Our DP coordinator Mr. Arpit Sharma proposed the vote of thanks and expressed our gratitude to Ms Patil for gracing the occasion and for motivating our students making them believe in themselves that nothing is impossible if they work hard with determination and perseverance.
